His Excellency the President of India had highlighted the importance of Cyber Security during recent Visitor’s Conference on National Education Policy. The University has been proactively working on implementation of NEP-2020. In that spirit, our visionary Vice Chancellor Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma has motivated to set up a state-of-the art Cyber Security research centre. The establishment of the Centre under the School of CS&ICT was notified vide Office order dated 09.10.2020. The Centre operates from IT Centre of the Chanakya Parisar of the University. Prof. Vikas Pareek, Dean SoCS&ICT has been appointed the Coordinator of the Centre and has been given the mandate of operationalizing the Centre. Prof. Vikas Pareek and his colleagues in the Department of CS&IT have a vast experience in security and other related areas.
The Centre was formally inaugurated on 12 December 2020 under the chairmanship of the Hon’ble VC Prof. Sanjeev Kumar Sharma. The chief guest of the Ceremony was Shri Arvind Kumar, Scientist G & Director General- STQC, Ministry of Electronics & IT, Govt. of India. Dr Santosh Kumar Pandey, Scientist D was guest of the honour on the occasion.

The Centre will work for creating state-of-the-art facilities for conducting research in cyber security and in turn provide a pool of skilled workforce in Cyber Security in Bihar. It is also proposed that the centre shall undertake massive awareness programmes for common people in cyber security particularly in the rural areas of Bihar. The Centre has a good collection of books on Cyber Security in the University library.
The key objective of ‘centre for Cyber Security’ is conducting research in various areas of cyber security viz. IoT, Blockchain, Cloud, Big data, Robotics, Quantum Cryptography etc. The centre would also collaborate with national & international agencies in Govt. & private sectors for various cyber security issues. In addition, the centre shall undertake policy research & publications in the concerned areas of cyber security and forensics.
