Dr. Sujit Kumar Choudhary, Associate Professor and Head

Dr. Sujit Kumar Choudhary is Associate Professor and Head in the Department of Sociology, Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Bihar, since 27th September 2019. Before joining to MGCUB, he was an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Central University of Jharkhand (CUJ), Ranchi (India) from 3rd September 2012 to 26th September 2019. He also worked more than 3 years as an Assistant Professor of Sociology at the School of Juridical and Social Sciences, Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur (India) from 8th August 2009 to 1st September 2012. He obtained his MA, M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Sociology from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi. Most prestigious award UGC-Research Award (2016-18), Swami Vivekananda Excellence Award (2019), Glory of India, Gold Medalist (2019), Biography of the Year (2017), Bharat Vikas Award (2017), Jewel of India Award (2016), Shiksha Rattan Puruskar (2012) and Bharat Jyoti Award (2012) have been conferred on him for his meritorious services, outstanding performance and remarkable role in the field of education and best academic foundational work in sociology discipline. Not only that he is also a recipient of UGC-Research Award (2016-2018) in the field of Sociology. Dr. Choudhary has published a number of research papers in international and national referred journals and in edited volumes. He has 2 books to his credit of international repute. He has presented many research papers in International and national conferences/seminars, including at the Harvard University, Boston, USA. Dr. Choudhary delivered many lectures at various academic fronts and also participated actively in Government policy making decision. His teaching and specialized research interests are in Sociological Theories, Sociology of Education, Sociology of Development and Sociology of Marginalized Groups.
